Begin with the employing institution, care setting and nursing role. Identify the experience your team needs, then agree how clinical interviews, document checks and the employer's registration responsibilities will be coordinated.

Confirm the employer process first

The Singapore Nursing Board's guidance for foreign-trained nurses requires registration or enrolment. An employment offer from an eligible healthcare institution with inpatient services is needed before an application can be considered. Employer HR confirms institutional eligibility with SNB and submits the application. Recruitment agents coordinate with employer HR.

Before sourcing, nominate the HR contact who will confirm the route and the clinical manager who will assess the vacancy. This makes it easier to resolve questions before candidates reach the interview stage.

Describe the experience your care team needs

“Nurse” is not a complete recruitment brief. Describe the department, patient group, duties and expected level of responsibility. Separate essential experience from skills you can support during induction.

Care setting and role
Employing institution, place of practice, nursing position, department and headcount.
Clinical background
Relevant recent practice, responsibilities, specialist experience and qualifications to be reviewed.
Communication
The language and communication skills needed for patient interactions, documentation and teamwork.
Working arrangements
Roster, remuneration, supervision, induction support and preferred timing.

Plan an interview with the clinical team

Ask the clinical manager to choose questions that reflect the actual role. The aim is to understand recent experience and identify what needs further assessment.

  • What was your role in your most recent care team?
  • Which duties did you carry out independently and under supervision?
  • How did your team organise handovers and escalate concerns?
  • Which documentation systems and working languages did you use?
  • What support would help you settle into this position?

Invite examples without patient names or identifying details. Record the same assessment areas for each candidate, alongside questions that remain open. A recruitment interview does not determine professional registration.

Coordinate document checks with employer HR

Agree who will review qualifications, current registration, practising status and employment history. The SNB guidance sets out the required documents and direct verification arrangements. Use the current official requirements when planning those checks.

Maintain a simple status list for each requested item: requested, received, reviewed or awaiting verification. Give candidates clear instructions through the agreed recruitment contact. This helps the team distinguish a document received from a requirement satisfied.

Keep the first website enquiry about the vacancy. Arrange an appropriate secure channel and candidate consent before exchanging passports, registration records or other personal documents.

Discuss the offer and induction together

Set out the role, roster, remuneration and agreed support clearly. Identify who will answer questions about relocation, accommodation where applicable, workplace expectations and the first weeks in the team.

Use your intended start date to plan the work, then review it as interviews, registration and employment-permission decisions progress. Avoid treating a recruitment shortlist as confirmation that a person can begin practising.

For a recruitment partnership, agree the scope of sourcing, screening, candidate communication and commercial terms. Keep employer HR involved when registration questions arise.

What should you send Pansomal first?

The institution, clinical setting, roles, headcount and essential experience are enough to begin a discussion. Add your HR contact, roster and preferred timing when known.
