Recruitment from Malaysia
Diesel mechanics for
Australian employers.
Discuss Malaysian recruitment for your Australian heavy-vehicle workshop or fleet. Start with the vehicles, diagnostic work and experience your vacancy actually requires.
Describe the fleet, not just the job title.
A heavy-vehicle workshop and a mobile-plant operation can need different experience. Tell us whether the vacancy centres on trucks, buses, agricultural equipment or other machinery, and which tasks the person would perform independently. A diesel mechanic title alone does not establish that someone has worked on your equipment.
What to include in your recruitment brief
Fleet and systems
List vehicle types, makes, approximate ages and diagnostic systems. Separate essential experience from systems your workshop can teach.
Day-to-day work
Describe the balance of scheduled servicing, fault diagnosis, breakdown response and component repairs. State whether the role is workshop-based or involves field work.
Working arrangements
Include location, roster, on-call expectations, reporting lines and the salary range. Identify any driving or site-access requirements for separate verification.
Evidence to discuss before a shortlist
Ask for an employment history that names the equipment and duties, then explore a recent diagnostic example at interview. A useful discussion covers the symptom, checks performed, fault identified and repair verification. Agree who will check references and any technical assessment before asking for a shortlist.
Questions for a technical interview
- Which fault did you diagnose most recently, and how did you isolate its cause?
- What work have you completed on the vehicle systems named in our brief?
- How do you document a repair and decide that equipment is ready to return to service?
Heavy-vehicle mechanic, diesel mechanic and diesel fitter are not interchangeable descriptions for every vacancy. Define the actual work first; any occupation classification, skills assessment or licensing decision needs a separate review.
The Pansomal connection
A Malaysian starting point.
TalenTAC, which identifies Agensi Pekerjaan Pansomal Sdn Bhd as its operating business, publicly lists this trade within its Australia offering. Pansomal International is the employer and recruitment-partner enquiry website.
See TalenTAC’s published Australia offering. The listing is background evidence; current candidate availability and the scope of an engagement require confirmation.
Recruitment and employment requirements
A recruitment discussion does not establish visa eligibility or recognition of a qualification. Employers should identify who will review sponsorship, skills assessment and any licensing requirements.
Use Trades Recognition Australia’s program information as an official starting point for assessment enquiries. Obtain case-specific migration advice from an appropriately qualified adviser.
Before you enquire
Can you supply mechanics who can start immediately?
Candidate availability, verified experience and any employment or migration requirements must be established for the particular vacancy. This page does not advertise a ready-to-deploy candidate pool.
What should we send first?
Send a vacancy description or use the employer checklist. Include the worksite, tasks, essential experience, headcount, pay range and intended timing. Do not send candidate identity documents with an initial enquiry.
Employer checklist prepared 14 September 2026. Assessment and employment requirements must be checked for each case.
